EHC is on the ball when it comes to polo!
As part of the summer programme we took 10 of our young budding polo players to Apsley Polo Club near Hitchen to try out their skills. The day was made possible thanks to the generous support of Norton Rose Fulbright.
After the trip one of our members, Natasha explained: “The trip with Norton Rose Fulbright was really good fun.
"We had to get up pretty early to catch the train and then a bus to get us to the polo club just north of London.
"When we arrived we learnt how to hold a mallet and practiced hitting balls in the arena.
"After this we got divided into three groups. We all got a turn at learning how to ride polo ponies, learning the different ways of hitting a ball sitting on a wooden horse, and discussing polo tactics while we ate pizza!
"After lunch everyone got to play a match in the pouring rain, which didn’t stop us from having a really great day.”
Learning to play polo is fantsatic for our members because it encourages them to develop their riding and apply the skills they gain at the club in a completely different way. It also really helps develop hand-eye coordination as well as muscle strength and fitness.
Our thanks go to Laura Shumiloff at Norton Rose Fulbright and the team at Apsley Polo Club for organising the day and for giving our young people such a great experience.
