Plans approved for our riding centre in Brixton![]() Architect's model of the proposed riding centre We were granted planning permission to build our riding centre on derelict land in the heart of Coldharbour Ward, Brixton, London in 2006 and we now need all the help we can get to fund the build. Please give if you can help us to make this exciting scheme a reality for children and families in Brixton, or contact us for more information. Having our own horses and facilities within walking distance of our club members' homes would enable us to help very many more children than is possible at present, and allow us to offer important extra support to our older club members with new opportunities for work experience and qualifications.
STOP PRESS! £79K awarded to Ebony ITV's Million Pound Giveaway programme awarded Ebony Horse Club £79,000 towards the capital cost of building our riding arena. Rose Spearing, Shannel Foster and a group of club members all appeared in front of the panel of millionaires and convinced them that Ebony Horse Club was worthy of their support. A great start to our fundraising but still a long way to go.

Nathan Foster (13/8/1988 - 3/8/2007) The Ebony Horse Club mourns the loss of one of its founder members and our youth worker, Nathan Foster who was murdered in Brixton on 3rd August. Nathan is also the brother of our youth worker Shannel Foster.
Nathan was the best rider we ever had and the development of the club since 1996 owes much to him, Shannel and the other three founding members. Nathan Started at the club at the age of 7 and attended riding lessons until the age of 14. He became a talented rider taking part in the Dulwich, West London and Lambeth Horse Shows. He attended 3 horse riding courses in Wales. Nathan always took advantage of all opportunities available to him with many different organisations including the Accra Youth Club and Lambeth Council's Exit Programme. He returned to us as a youth worker attending an introduction to youth work course in May 2006. He specialised in helping the younger boys follow in his footsteps. To the person who did this, you aimed at Nathan but you did not see the whole community standing behind him. You shot an individual but you have devastated a village. Our young people will continue to achieve as we support them. The olive branch will always triumph over the gun. |
