MBE for Ebony Pioneer

Ros Spearing, Director of Ebony Horse Club, has been recognised for her community work in the Queen's 2012 Birthday Honours List by being awarded an MBE.

Ros said: "On the occasion of being awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the many people who have contributed over the years to make Ebony what it is today. I have accepted this award on behalf of everyone who has helped make the dream a reality. At this time I would also like to remember and thank Derek Accra, Sophia Williams, Nathan Foster and Cassandra Jardine who all played crucial roles in the development of the club and who have sadly passed away. We currently have 120 Brixton children riding a week and this is set to continue rising over the next year. In September, four young people will be studying their BTECs in Horse Care at Plumpton College, East Sussex. We have well and truly put Brixton on the map for horse riding!"
